Enough Already
I was doing a little first-of-the-year organizing. For clarity’s sake, I’ll confess that I’m using the word “organizing” in its loosest form. It’s the Rhonda Rhea version of the o-word, and it’s the kind that most of my friends wouldn’t consider organization at all. When it comes to organization projects, I sometimes tend to think a little too small. This year’s project? My jewelry box. That’s it.
The problem with my jewelry box is that I have more stuff than box. The thing is positively overflowing with bangles and baubles. There’s not so much in the precious gem department. Diamonds, rubies, sapphires? No, it’s more like wooden beads, high-grade plastic and various unidentifiable minerals in every shade. Even a few feathers here and there. There’s nothing expensive in my box, but what it may lack in value it more than makes up in volume. And in true speaker form, I must say, I do love to “dress for excess.” To me, over-blinging is just not possible.
Of course, I’m getting dangerously close to having to ask my husband to build on a room addition. I’d like to call the addition “my other jewelry box.” I’ve put off asking him because I have a very strong feeling he’ll say enough is enough with the jewelry. Oh what a sad day that would be.
There is, however, an oh so happy day in our future. How glorious that day will be when God says to Satan, “Enough is enough.” It will be the heavenly organization to top all organizations. No more accusing; that Devil is outta there! Look at Revelation 12:10-11:
“Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: ‘Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.’”
Enough! Satan will no longer have access to heaven. The Accuser won’t be accusing Christians any more. What stops him in his tracks? Not the brightness of the heavenly bling. No, it’s the brightness and holiness of Jesus!
And enough really is enough. Verse 11 tells us it’s the blood of the Lamb that overcomes. The blood sacrifice of Christ was enough to conquer the Enemy—and it was enough to cover our every wrong. His “enough” was truly enough for all eternity. You can’t come up with a sin too big for his perfect sacrifice to cover. Have you ever had a sin that you confessed but it still seemed to haunt you? How “enough” do you suppose the blood of the Lamb is to cover that one? Enough and more than enough!
The Enemy is angry. The end of verse 12 says “He is filled with fury because he knows that his time is short.” The rhinestone-covered watch is ticking, as it were. We read in 1 Peter 5:8 that “the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
The good news is that we don’t need to fear. The blood of the Lamb is enough for it all. There is victory in the all-sufficiency of Christ. If Jesus is your Savior, you can rejoice in Christ and celebrate with all of heaven!
I’m celebrating with you today!
I’m celebrating this New Year with you, too. And I’m celebrating that I’m finished with my organization project. Some of us organize a little differently, incidentally. Some toss out the excess bangles and baubles. Some of us just decide to buy a bigger box.
